Mr. Robins' courses: I have not been updating this site for the past year as I retired. Hence, I selected this picture to illustrate my grey hair and the 'non-teaching' activity of musket repair. However, I, and the picture, want to make the point that I'm still interested in History and teaching other people about it. While I don't get paid for it now; on bad weather days, I can just roll over and go back to sleep.....
I will be posting ideas under "Teaching" for teaching The War of 1812 and local History; plus a few random topics that I found especially worked well.
If you liked something not covered by the above, please feel free to download it and use it for your own as that favorite tidbit may be a victim of some overdue housecleaning in the not-so-distant future.....

CCI/CDCI West Re-enacting Club - Grade 7 History Fair. Again, retirement. Unfortunately, no one wanted to assume the mantle of staff adviser of the club despite the offer of free coaching and equipment/uniform lending.
With no high school students, we realized it would be impossible to run the Grade 7 History Fair (we would need all of our re-enacting group; but, most are young and very low on the 'I would like this day off' employment ladder). The event will return. Where and when we don't know yet. However, two of our re-enacting group members are seeking employment as high school teachers in the local board and would love to run their own re-enacting groups. |

Old Local History Site: A few decades ago, we started posting local history information (census records, student-written articles, militia records, etc.). It was the first local history website and was hosted by eagle.ca. The switch to Weebly was made due to problems posting to eagle.ca with Board of Education/School computers. So, for several years, this site was left alone but still kindly hosted by eagle.ca. I will leave all the records intact there until eagle.ca takes it down (I stopped paying the 'rent' several years ago). In the meanwhile, the new Northumberland History site will be expanded to include not only the material on the old site; but also an expansion of the records and a collection of articles that were not on the old site.
